Title: Far-Out Idea: Mansi
Post by: MDGross on December 30, 2019, 09:14:29 AM
Is this scenario even remotely possible: On one day during their trek, the hikers encounter two or three Mansi hunters.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               An argument ensues (not sure over what, maybe the two women) and punches are exchanged. A couple hikers have bruised knuckles consistent with a fist fight. On the night of Feb. 1, the Mansi want revenge (robbery is not a motive). They force the under-dressed group out of the tent and march them to the small forest. Eventually, they move away, but check some time later. Five of the group have died from hypothermia, but the Mansi find the other four in a snow den. Violence ensues and three out of the four suffer fatal wounds. The other one has broken his ankle and can't move. The Mansi skillfully cover their tracks and all other traces of their presence.
Granted this is a far fetched idea (so are UFOs, Yeti, crazed deer, a stinky Wolverine and such like) since the Mansi are NOT prone in any way to violence. But maybe that night was exceptional.
Thoughts?

You will find other parts of this Forum touching upon potential Mansi involvement.

I think this is not possible, it would be mentioned in the diaries of Dyatlov's group.

If you look closely at the Mansi, they are fairly small wirey people. I don't believe they could inflict those injuries on the hikers, but it is something to think about, especially if  the Mansi were stoned with magic mushrooms. There is still the climbing of the cedar tree, for what reason?

I think the Mansi are a little suspicious for one reason, they were the first to discover the bodies that were in  the ravine, but that could be because there was clothing that was exposed on the way to the ravine, and they knew there might be some payment from the government for this info.

Keep thinking out of the box and maybe in 2020 we can all find out what happened. Have a wonderful blessed New Year!

We can not be certain that we have all that was written in Diaries or some other form. There may be missing written evidence, we just dont know. But if we have all that was written then yes we could expect it to have been mentioned.

Apparently the Authorities Investigated the Mansi using various techniques and therefore its unlikely that the Authorities missed anything.

Yeah, if you look at the autopsy files, one of the hikers had 10 broken ribs, with 5 of them broken twice, so 15 rib fractures. That's a shattered chest. By a single blow, since all the fractures are lined. No human is that strong, probably not even a gorilla.

However! In your scenario, they could've fallen while fleeing or been forced/pushed into the ravine.

However!! In your scenario, why was the tent slashed from the inside? Why were the Mansi out at night in the middle of a snowstorm?

But my biggest objection to the Mansi murder theory is that they were an otherwise peaceful people? They jumped straight from peaceful to brutally murdering nine people, then back to peaceful? If the Mansi were violent, there would be records of fights, assaults, robberies, rapes, etc.  You don't jump from nice to murdering nine people for little reason then back to nice again.

Yeah, if you look at the autopsy files, one of the hikers had 10 broken ribs, with 5 of them broken twice, so 15 rib fractures. That's a shattered chest. By a single blow this is disputed by some pathologists who think Lyudmila's injuries require two events. n.b. the "run over by a tracked vehicle theory" fits this double event requirement quite well, since all the fractures are lined. No human is that strong, probably not even a gorilla.

Several diaries have Mansi mini-dictionaries. I assume they must have encountered a Mansi and spent several friendly hours with him or her, learning some local words.

Based on where these dictionaries appear in the diaries, it must have been around the time Uncle Slava took them on the sled.
