How did Dyatlov incident become famous?

Earthland:
It is easy to imagine how it would become famous nowadays. But Soviet magaiznes rarely reported anything tragic. In USSR, the sun was always shining. Considering especially that the investigation didn't bring any results, it's hard to imagine that any big stories would be published about it. Thus the question, how and when did the incident become world famous?
