Am I?   Im not the one that explains EVERYTHING as caused by a fantastical entity.  I'm convinced that if one of the DP group farted in that tent that night, your explanation would be.......piloted fireball.  Lets talk about tunnel-vision.     nose1

I'm not sure I want to start another post and my apologies if resurrecting old posts is frowned upon, but I just had to comment on this lol. It has always been my belief that something trivial (assuming they fought among themselves) happened to upset Igor. Like peeing too close to the tent or someone in the tent farting! How terrible would that be to be stuck inside with one or two people constantly ripping one and giggling like fools? To a guy who supposedly made people wash their feet before entering the tent? Should I start a new post? How A Fart Killed 9 People

Ball Lightening. There should be a good video of this phenomenon on Youtube by now. It shows a ball on the side of a railway track.
Ball Lightning I suspect is a lightening strike that dosnt quite make contact with the ground but shows in a ball before dissipating.
You will note that lightning will always go via the shortest path , this is why there are lightening conductors.

Ball lightning doesnt hang around. The Dyatlov group had to get to what they thought was the safety of the forest, which was a fairly long hike in very bad conditions poorly dressed. And then they attempted to survive.

The book I mentioned before in this thread is a well-researched source for detailed records of plasma balls the world over. They do exist.

The author says that a plasma ball floating over Mt. Otorten, as seen (and heard as "distant thunder") by hiking groups in other locations that night, exploded, producing a blast wave and causing injuries and burns such as Yuri K's leg. He goes on to give many examples of plasma balls throughout history in many different places and times.

The Mansi were quite familiar with these plasma balls, particularly the type where there is a main big ball, which then spawns a bunch of smaller ones, which they called "lanterns" (also called rollers).

He also says that at least 4 of the hikers and possibly 5 were taking pictures of the plasma event, which was so extraordinary that Zolotaryev took his camera with him when they left the tent. He does present these photos in the book, some of which I had not seen before.

Long discussions on this type of phenomenon years ago on this site. A plasma event is highly unlikely to be responsible for the events that befell the Dyatlov Group, looking at all those very unusual injuries and the time factor, etc.
