Axelrod:
Dyatlov Pass. Slobtsov and Axelrod knew the truth! But not the whole truth (March 16, 2024):

-  In 2009, Buyanov co-authored with Slobtsov the book "The Mystery of the Dyatlov Group Accident". Well, in this book they described how the search went. And there is one strange phrase in this book about the storage shed. It says that the storage shed was supposedly made of bags hanging from a tree. But we all know that the storage shed that was found was buried in the snow, and not hanging from a tree.

And here's the question: Why then did Buyanov and Slobtsov write that there was a bag hanging from a tree? What is especially strange is that it was Slobtsov who found that very storage shed in the snow. There are even photographs where Slobtsov is depicted next to the storage shed.

It turns out that Slobtsov knew that the storage shed was buried in the snow, but nevertheless, for some reason, he indicated in the book that the storage shed was hanging on a tree… And how can this be understood?

GlennM:
Protocol Inspection of Storage
"Labaz is located at a group's camp site well hidden packed with fire wood, covered with planks and spruce debris. At the storage one ski is propped in the snow and a torn gaiter is slipped onto it,"

The items were covered, but a ski is propped in the snow. The labaz was easily found. It would be harder to hang items in a tree unless there was rope to pull it up higher. Perhaps there never was intent or effort to raise the supplies. Memory might be at fault.

Axelrod:
I think that Buyanov was the author of the book, he wrote his fantasy there, and Slobtsov was added to the authors of the book for the sake of authorship. At the same time, he did not read everything that was written there.

Osi:
Assuming that there may be 1.5 meters of snow cover in the Labaz region and assuming that a 1 meter deep hole is dug at the bottom of a large tree trunk and a sack containing food and personal belongings is wrapped around the tree trunk with a 70 cm rope; It is thought that this food was hung on the tree. If the searchers dig more than 1 meter below the tree after noticing the labaz signs, they will see that the bag is hung on the tree 50 cm above the ground. This may be where confusion arises. There is a risk of wild animals dragging an untied sack. They can consume food. A tied sack; A good precaution to protect other personal items.

Axelrod:
I didn't understand the meaning of this tirade of text.
I think that Buyanov tied bags to a tree during his travels, and that's why he attributed the same actions to Dyatlov's group.
