Has it already been thought of that the eyes missing from the bodies of some of the victims could be the result of birds scavenging for food?

Yes. Small scavengers is one of considerations for the missing eyes and tongue.

The siberian crow inhabits this area apparently.

It wasnt just the missing eyes. Note other unusual injuries to that part of the body. And why no missing eyes on all the other bodies ! ?

Crows will peck eyes and tongues, especially from lambs and sheep.
Two of the people at the Den were missing eyes. This is because they died, or were incapacitated, in the daylight, and had not yet frozen.
The idea the Ms Dubinina was tortured, is almost certainly not true. imo.

I read someplace recently (in the middle of two Dyatlov books plus endless online research, so can't remember where exactly grin1), that Yuri K had "damage" to his eyes and mouth that was thought to be clearly due to birds. Crows definitely scavenge when they can.

It was his nose. You can see it (or the lack of it) in the morgue photos.

But we dont really know what time of day they died, or were incapacitated as you say ! ?

We need the information that that came from.

sarapuk. Birds don't feed at night. So if Crows were the culprits, they would need to find the bodies after dawn, and still unfrozen.

But some birds do feed at night and many birds feed in the hour as it gets dark and before it gets light.

Corvids feeding in the dark? I'll have to take your word for that. But yes, they do feed at dawn and dusk, but I didn't say otherwise.
