How long they lingered at the tent and what type of discussion were they having under duress. After everyone escaped the tent they had a discussion, note: just the fact they had this discussion means they were alone on the mountain. The possibilities are not endless ,one plausible senecio is they thought they could start fire until morning and go up and see what really happened...this was a fatal mistake and some of the men fought over this decision physically. What do you think.

I am no expert but by placing myself in their shoes, no valenkis, they lingered outside the tent long enough to not get dressed properly before they hurried down the mountain towards the tree line and what they thought at the time was safety
