Did they all die because of their astrological _star_ signs or readings? I read numerous hints in the forum that the hikers died because of a lovelorn Zina, and this was all predicated by the stars. Her being a Capricorn also got several mentions.
I am aware that I am Capricorn, we are said to be the mountain goat, ambitiously determined to eventually reach the top. Rustem and Igor were also Capricorns and it's usually accepted that together with Zina they were the last 3 survivors, and that these 3 mountain goats had been heading back up the mountain.
So is there anything to this I ask, more from curiosity and fun than in all seriousness.
Igor, Rustem & Zina - Capricornian
"Capricorns are overachievers, persistent, practical, and sensitive. They're known for their hardworking habits, and they're overachievers who make success look effortless — even though they put a lot of time and care into their careers and relationships." Some of this ties in with Igor, and top-of-the-class Zina. Rustem had become a draughtsman, an engineer, and was musical, playing the violin and able to turn his hand to mandolin.
Yuri Doroshenko, Yuri Krivo & Semyon - Aquarius, the water bearer
"People born under the Aquarius sign are said to be progressive, independent, intelligent, unique, and idealistic. Their elemental sign is air, the same as that for Gemini and Libra. Like air, Aquarians don't have a single, clear shape and seem to defy categorization." Doro certainly wanted to be independent and have Zina allow him room to breathe. Semyon was searching for a progressive career, and Yuri K, well, he defied categorisation and was something of a rural revolutionary.
Aleksander - Scorpius, the scorpion
"The Scorpio personality is often misunderstood due to their intensity and their tendency to be harsh. However, Scorpios are extremely emotional, and crave intimacy. They have a powerful presence and demanding personalities, and their penchant for mystery is what makes them one of the most interesting signs." Aleksander had a powerful presence and could dominate debates, he craved intimacy enough to be having an affair with a UPI tutor. It's rumoured he may have been a KGB recruit, so had his air of mystery.
Lyuda - Taurus, the bull

All of these characteristics mirror themes covered by the Second House of Self-Worth and Income, which Taurus rules." Lyuda could be a stickler for doing things the proper communist way. But she was also down-to-earth, more of a girl-next-door type, and was placed in charge of the hikes finances.
Tibo - Gemini, twins
"Playful and intellectually curious, Gemini is constantly juggling a variety of passions, hobbies, careers, and friend groups. They are the social butterflies of the zodiac: These quick-witted twins can talk to anyone about anything. Find them buzzing between happy hours, dinner parties, and dance floors." Tibo was a great socialiser and immediately welcomed in an oustider, Semyon, when the others would be cautious. He was playful, a fellow clown to Yuri K, and elicited a playful tactility from Rustem who would not invade his space if he didn't recognise this character in Tibo.
I'm not sure how any of this generalisation and interpretation fits in with what happened. It may require individual readings for 1st to 2nd February 1959. Maybe Zina's Jupiter was dangerously in the descendent while Mars was rising and hers would read:
"Today you will finally address issues which have been stressing you. The presence of a love interest may be causing heartache which you must finally confront, if not verbally then physically. If you cannot exist with your heart fulfilled then you will have a tendency to exact revenge by destroying the habitat and running off into the night.
