Can anyone tell me what is meant by the word KHAN in the quote below: "the young Khan" -- "They interrogated this Khan" ---
Syunikaev:
They were being watched… they were being followed! You see, they arrived, they didn’t even go down our road. There we have security posts all around… And they took a detour along the river and through the camp! They were given a horse there, and they were taken on the horse to the Khanty. They interrogated this Khan, the young Khan kept saying: they were let in through them!

Khanti , khanty is a another tribe like the manti.
One of the searchers was a khanti , he signs his name in the case files with the same sign on one of the trees in the photos by the hikers. There were khanti hunting on the lands as well as Mansi.
The khanti searcher was jailed at some point for murder and worked as a prison guard or informant. He is suspected by some. I'm sure I posted this somewhere.

Yes, the Khanty. But do you mean a young Khan is a young Khanty? I thought the word Khan had a different meaning.

Can you post the link to the quote?

Yes I have read this. As I understood Khan = singular Khanty = plural. No I am not Russian.

Need text in Russian. Maybe your translation is incorrect. How was it written in Russian: "хан" or "хант" or "ханты"?

Hunter,
Axelrod may have the text in Russian. Here is the link to the article he provided in English:
