Almost a month passed between the tragic deaths and the discovery of the tent.
Is it possible that during those weeks, someone had enough time to stage a large setup, move the tent, bodies, and more?

Maybe the information regarding the Ravine4 is in the book (which I haven't read yet) or has already been discussed on the forum (which I couldn't find), but does anyone have any idea why there are almost no pictures of the Ravine4? Since they were the ones with the most injuries, wouldn't the autopsies have been even more important? Or was something deliberately being hidden? No pictures mean no proof, and without proof, there can be no further investigations

All the photos form the search are published here: https://dyatlovpass.com/search-photos#6shift
You are right that the investigators did not make any photos, Lev Ivanov seems to have lost interest in the case which is interpreted that Moscow told him to close the case. There is no record of this though, just a speculation.
The only pictures we have of the last four bodies recovered from he creek are made by student Mohov.

I also recommend this theory, if you read Russian or can take the time to translate. This is one of the few theories that, like Teddy and Igor's, actually explains everything, all the mismatched pieces.

A very good and correct question that only the authors of convincing versions can answer.
According to my version in the book "Ural Golgotha, or the state order for liquidation" (almost all dates are approximate) everything happened like this:
on February 2. the murder of Dyatlov's group. The order was given to "strip them so that they froze to death", tired, weakened, unable to kill the guys were defeated.
On February 4-5, a team arrives to pick up the bodies for burial in the abandoned area of Ivdellag. Perhaps Chernyshov and his team did it again. The guys, all 9, were buried in the pit.
On February 4-5, the corpses are discovered by pilots of reconnaissance helicopters, hunters-Mansi. They report what they saw to the head of Ivdel – Prodanov. Many people find out about the corpses.
On February 6, an order was issued by the head of the KGB, Shelepin, that the liquidation should be strictly classified so that all witnesses would give non-disclosure receipts. So, just in case, a fake criminal case was initiated. Arrest suspects, it doesn't matter who it is.
On February 7-10, Investigators Tempalov and Korotaev arrest Mansi as a "switchman", a "scapegoat" (slang). The criminal case is initiated with the date of February 6, in favor of Shelepin's order.
15. Tempalov writes a note to Korotayev mentioning the deceased group.
17-18 parents of tourists begin to worry. They start going to the authorities, but no one talks to them. Parents threaten: if the search does not begin, they will appeal to the world community. From this moment the movement begins. An order is received from the authorities: dig up tourists, prepare the slope for the search. (Salter's subsequent testimony: the bodies were very dirty). In Ivdel, preparations are underway for a theatrical search for tourists.
On February 18, the Chairman of the UPI tour club (by order from above) declares a false telegram from Dyatlov in order to reduce the intensity of passions and delay the search.
18-19 preparations for the search are in full swing. Tourists, washed of blood, lie on the slope. The most affected are thrown into a stream and covered with snow. On February 20, a message was received from Ivdel to Sverdlovsk that the slope was ready for search.
On February 21, the Sverdlovsk Regional Committee announces the start of a search operation. Two of the UPI: the head of the tourist club and the student Blinov fly out to search by plane.
On February 23, a group of search engines, students of the UPI under the leadership of B. Slobtsov, was thrown into the area of the pass. Probably, at the same time, Yeshtokin, Kirilenko's deputy, is flying to Ivdel (according to Sogrin, Yeshtokin in Ivdel controlled the entire course of events on the Pass).
On February 24, the tent is discovered by forester Pashin, according to his testimony in the criminal case, he does not look into it, which is very strange.
On February 26, the authorities become aware that Kolevatov's relatives have sent a telegram to Khrushchev, and on February 26, students (with the help of the forester Pashin) discover a tent.

in addition to the last paragraph of February 26.
Of course, the KGB kept the actions of the tourists' relatives under control, so they became aware of plans to send a telegram to Khrushchev in advance. A telegram to Khrushchev was sent by Sasha Kolevatov's sister on February 26, and on February 26, search engine students find a tent.
The telegram says:
Dear Nikita Sergeevich! On February 9, a group of UPI tourists did not return from a hike. the search work started late, after 10 days! We sincerely ask you for help, dear every day and hour.

© Chronology of events according to Anna Russian.

Here are the most important disagreements with my TOK theory (similar to Aleks Kandr's).

••• On February 4-5 : The massacre is not known by the KGB or other police forces and nobody comes to look for, or touch, the 9 corpses lying on the Kholat Syakhl.

••• On February 4-5 : the corpses are discovered by pilots of reconnaissance helicopters, hunters-Mansi and through extensive interrogation of various suspects registered in the Ivdel-Vizhay region.

••• On February 6 : The KGB understands that the 9 hikers were all killed and that there are no survivors.

The KGB is then very annoyed because a part of its mission is to protect the very good Soviet citizens as the hikers were in 1959 (and also to eliminate the "enemies of the people": those who openly are opposed to Khruschev's De-Stalinization policy).

As a result, the KGB decided not to take any premature initiatives for the time being and to wait wisely for further developments.

••• 17-18 February : parents of tourists begin to worry. They start going to the authorities.... But the managers of the Route Commission (Korolev, Novikova, Maslennikov, Bogomolov) and of the UPI sports club (Gorgo) thought:

We should not rush to trigger rescue efforts too quickly.
A group of 9 people as strong as Dyatlov's group probably had some small problems but they will soon be able to give a sign of life on their own. Let's wait and see.

••• 18-19 February : nothing special or important happens.

••• 27 February - 5 May : the corpses of the hikers are gradually found in the places where they were abandoned (by the hitmens) on 2 February.

Rational guidance =

• There is nothing supernatural and mysterious about the injuries suffered by the Dyatlov group. They are all consistent with an attack by a group of professional killers who wanted to take the lives of the nine  [Per Inge Oestmoen].

• Now let us search for answers to: WHO ? WHY ? HOW ?

• The scenario must be consistent with the historical, political and psychological  contexts.

• The solution takes in consideration all known findings.

Nothing was done in the country without the direction of the party. No one would dare to kill 9 young guys without the party's guidance. (only domestic drunken murders were uncontrolled, or prison fights among criminals, as well as murders for money and profit). The liquidators were given the task to strip and freeze the tourists, and others were assigned to remove the corpses (or the same Chernyshov, but the next day). The corpses were not removed in time, and therefore an incident turned out. Geologists on helicopters and hunters of Mansi found out about the corpses. Both the KGB and the party authorities are aware of the massacre, because (according to my version) it was the party authorities who gave the order. Because of the corpses that were not immediately cleaned up, the authorities had many problems.

You are wrong, the KGB had no mission to protect good citizens. There was a mission to protect the party organs and carry out their orders. (read protocol 200 archival document of 1959).

Based on your research, why did the nine hikers need to be eliminated?

Based on your research, why did the nine hikers need to be eliminated?
According to Yudin's stories, slanderous false denunciations were written against the guys, the guys were liquidated on a false denunciation that they were anti-Soviets and wanted to escape abroad during the 21st Congress of the CPSU. All other versions left a chance for survival at least to someone. But only the liquidation order did not give anyone a chance. Go to my page, check out the version of the state order on liquidation.

I believe there was a cover up and not a very good one because they had to use people who didn't like making it look like the 9 were responsible for their own passing.

The fact that they tested for radiation on people who were supposed to have frozen to death shows they were looking for something, IMO.

I believe the group was in a place they were not supposed to be, were thought to be enemies and wiped out. when it was realized who they had wiped out, they started the cover up

nothing about the tent, where it was, the stove not set up, the frozen bodies at the cedar( which I still can't work out what they thought people would think happened) the den was prepared etc.

Aleks Kandr's criminal theory is set out in a detailed and also not very concise manner.
It is very similar to my TOK theory, named after the authors: Eduard Tumanov + Per Inge Oestmoen + Aleks Kandr

You also have interesting comments in Russian, which have been locked, which is not surprising, because generally the criminal theories of DPI do not seem to be appreciated (liked).

In a very simplified and schematic way during the Khrushchev era there was almost a civil war between Stalinists and Thaw supporters.

There was a lot of disagreement during the Party meetings. This was true at all levels (from the cell meeting to the Politbureau).
Note about the course of a meeting.

Each one trying to save his privileged position, and sometimes even his life, interpreted the allusions of the others or the smiles to determine on which side he should take.

You are right in general, but the hikers were more important than ordinary Soviet citizens. According to my TOK theory, they were propagandists of Khrushchev's policy, entrusted with a difficult mission in a remote and hostile region, as it contained many former Stalinist NKVD officials (who were very unhappy in 1959 about the forthcoming closure of the Gulag and the de-Stalinisation).

Khrushchev himself was ignorant in technological matters, having received only a very basic education.
As a result, Khrushchev had a high regard for all engineers (or engineering students), technicians who effectively contributed to the importance and international influence of the USSR.

He would never have allowed the liquidation of what he considered to be the elite of Soviet youth.

There is a lot of reasonable and truthful in Alexander Kandra's version, with the exception of the rocket.
Aleks Kandr's theory is long to read, (especially for me who only knows it through automatic translators).

It is a criminal theory which assumes that the nine hikers were murdered and profaned by three hired killers in the pay of one or more sponsors, (who could perhaps be Kirilenko?? Prodanov??...)

A central hypothesis proposed by Aleks Kandr is that Gulag not only martyred the physical bodies of the Zeks but also perverted the souls of a significant number of NKVD guards of all ranks by developing sadistic tendencies in them.

"The KGB was completely subordinate to the party apparatus" : This is too simplistic point of view.

The internal politics of the USSR between Thursday 5 March 1953 (death of Stalin) and 14 October 1964 (removal of Khrushchev) is complicated.
(Khrushchev was elected First Secretary of the Party Central Committee on 26 June 1953).

The KGB was created on 13 March 1954 for various missions and also to purge the Party of its opponents
Thus for example, former Stalinist notables of the NKVD were physically eliminated:

                    Bogdan Koboulov (1904-1953)
                    Lavrenti Beria(1899-1953)
                    Mikhaïl Ryoumine(1913-1954)
                    Viktor Abakoumov(1908-1954)
                    Vsevolod Merkoulov(1895-1954)
                    Amaïak Koboulov (1906-1955)
                    Boris Rodos(1905-1956)

In 1957 the anti-party group that rejected both Khrushchev's excess liberalization of Soviet society and his denunciation of Joseph Stalin, and promoted the full restoration and preservation of Stalinism was neutralised only politically.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-Party_Group
Vyacheslav Molotov was expelled from the CPSU in September 1963
Georgi Malenkov expelled from the CPSU and sentenced to internal exile. 1961
Lazarus Kaganovich expelled from the CPSU 1964
Dmitri Chepilov expelled from the party in February 1962,

It seems unlikely that the denunciation that the hikers wanted to flee abroad during the 21st Congress of the CPSU could have had any effect.

Between 28 January and 1 February the hikers moved very slowly and the Kholat Syakhl is located very far from the borders of the USSR.
No one, except for deep-seated mentally ill people, could have taken this denunciation seriously.

And the Soviet officials or other Party members were unscrupulous characters ready to do anything to eliminate political opponents who got in the way of their plans, but they were not profoundly deep-seated mentally ill people.

Vladimir Askindzi adds a few more details:
" And just before my departure, I was again summoned to the party committee and told bluntly: make sure the hikers didn’t abscond to America through the North Pole. And if you find any details that speak of them leaving to America, then do not talk to anyone about it. When I told the guys about the escape to America, they laughed for a long time. Nansen has been preparing for years to conquer the North Pole, and our supposedly on a whim decided to make it through the entire Arctic Ocean. In addition, without skis! After all, all their skis were found around the tent. "

Does anyone know why there are so few images of the Ravine4? It's possible that the information about the Ravine4 is in the book, which I haven't read yet, or has already been discussed on the forum, which I couldn't find. Wouldn't the autopsies have been even more crucial given that they suffered the most injuries? Or was something being withheld on purpose? Without pictures, there would be no evidence, and without evidence, no further research could be done.

I am not aware of any more photos of the ravine 4. The autopsies report the fractures that would only be revealed an autopsy. They didn't seem to hide this fact. They supplied the evidence in the report. The ravine 4 were in a state of decay.

My question would be, why give away that information and hide any other injuries.?

Hi,
if you want more information, this question has already been asked previously above (it feels like you copy-pasted my question/post from March 23rd though). It has been answered by Teddy ;)
