Could Flares explain the lights?

The stationary phote shows multiple lights in one frame. Could it be from flares to light up the mountain so whoever killed the hikers could find them in the dark?

Hi Jdbogus9,

There are a number of threads that discuss the possibility of flares  rocket engines etc. If my memory serves me correctly the conclusion was that some of these photos were perhaps taken later by people using up the film. Also there was great discussion on the technicalities of the cameras and their function.

I'm not sure which photo you are referring to, if you can list it I might be able to point you in the direction of the relevent threads.
