About highlighted phrase Kamchatka peninsula is near the Ural Mountains in Russia
According the news, Volcano is distatnt ~100 km from Petropavlosck-Kamchatsky

Using https://planetcalc.ru/73/
I calculate

Distance between Dyatlov Pass and Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky = 5355 km
Distance between Dyatlov Pass and Vien (Austria) = 3050 km

Volcanos in Italia (Etna, Vesuvio) seem to be more influent than Kamchatka
