The following map is in the case files, page 77: (click to enlarge)

See https://dyatlovpass.com/case-files-76-81?rbid=17743

Question: Do we know who made this map, and when?

Here is an idea from Gildar's video: https://forum.dyatlovpass.com/index.php?topic=484.msg11644#msg11644
If you look at this map, small lines indicate the bodies, labeled, from left to right:
  • Kolmogorova
  • Slobodin (Slobodik?)
  • Dyatlov
  • then, there is a drawing of the cedar 🌲
  • two more lines next to it (with a faint arrow and a questionmark). Assumption: these are the Yuris
  • and then, to the right: 4 more lines! And the label says "group" (ru: групы), I believe
If this map was made in May, no mystery. But it refers to "Maslennikov's camp" in the Auspiya valley. Maskennikov took part in the search from Feb 24 to Mar 10, when the ravine 4 were not yet found.

Also, can someone make out what the faint "erased" writings say?

The camp could be named after the first leader of the search who set it up.
I am more troubled why are the May bodies on the wrong side of the cedar tree.

Hm, yes, those original 4 lines are not anywhere near a stream.. Gildar's idea is that they were found earlier in Feb/March, and the lines on this map would be a sign of that, but then were hidden in the stream in the ravine due to their extensive injuries so rumours don't spread.

By the way, is the cedar location correct on this map? If so, this would mean Zina, Rustem and Igor crossed flowing water 4 times? 2 streams on the way from the tent to the cedar and 2 back. Seems very risky, too easy to slip and get your clothes wet

The map in the book shows the locations of the bodies over a real terrain. There is only one creek to cross, the one where the bodies in May were found. In February it could have been covered with snow.

Found an apparent earlier version of this sketch, this one from Maslennikov's notebook:

If I didn't miss anything this only indicated 4 bodies, so it's probably drawn before Rustem was found. And the other one drawn later.

This makes sense but leads to another question. Are the shaded areas the places to search? Why were they so sure the Dyatlov group would not have moved anywhere else but between the cedar and the tent in a 150m wide band? Why would they exclude some of them moving north or south, perpendicular to this band, or even uphill? This almost seems like a search area based on assumption of an avalanche.....
