I always assumed it was not. But then, here is a quote from Grigoriev's notebook 2, from page 34:
Quote
The pilots in a hurry brought lunch from the kitchen and they flew again. They took mine detectors with soldiers, 3 masters of sports from Moscow and products. One helicopter did not fly. It break down and they had to drive to Polunochnoe to weld a part. But Victor Vasilyevich [Potyazhenko] flew.
This is from a part that I think describes the events of 3rd of March.

From Ivdel where the airfield was.
See where Polunochnoe is compared to the Dyatlov Pass.

It's between Ivdel and Vizhay. You know that they got to Vizhay on a bus.
So to Polunochnoe there is even public transportation.

Is this leading to an implication that the hikers were hit by a car?
We don't have to say everything that comes into our head.

Ah so I'm just misunderstanding and Grigoriev wrote this while at the Ivdel airport, and not at the pass?

No. I'm just re-reading some sources but them being hit by a car - that's out of question. Lots of wild theories in Grigoriev's writings though.

Well, seeing is believing. But hearing is worth something too. I beg you can hear this car a long way off in the distance. It surely would leave deep tracks, several ifmit turned circles. The search for truth goes on.
