9 both ankles had brownish red abrasions, size 1x0.5 cm and 3x2.5 cm with hemorrhage into the underlying tissue
10 single incision 4x2 cm in the lower third of the right tibia

I am interested in the idea that at some point while ascending the valley of the Auspya, Igor had a mishap and injured ( sprained) his ankles. As a consequence, he cached his boots at the labaz and proceeded on foot with the group. They tried to traverse the ridge to Ortoten but were turned back the night before their final camp. On the last day, they started late and ended early because Igor was slowing everyone down, but refused to remain behind. He wanted his certification ( Lyuda wasn't going to Ortoten to represent the group, IMO). In all probability, he could have done the ridge route the following day with the rest of them, but deteriorated night time conditions changed the plans.

It seems to me that the stove in the tent would have only been used in a situation where the tent did not sway or press onto the hot suspended cannister. In other words, the stove was used in a protected wooded camp, not a barren slope. Igor's priority in such condition would be to get under the blankets and rest up.

What I do not like is that the Evening Ortoten, nor diaries supports the idea. Then again, did any of the diaries record any injuries of anyone at any time? Yes, Y Yuden.

Things got worse,  they all left...

An injury could be a good reason to pitch the tent where they did. Especially an ankle injury. From a couple of google searches we can get an idea that the cables can bind into the ankles .

Did Cable Bindings Cause Marks on the Ankles?
Yes, 1950s cable bindings could absolutely cause marks, bruises, or chafing on the ankles and lower legs.
High Tension Points: The metal cable, particularly when tightened for downhill skiing, applied significant pressure directly to the back of the heel and lower ankle.
Leather Boot Limitations: Because 1950s boots were low-cut leather and lacked the rigidity of modern boots, the ankle depended on the cable for support, leading to increased pressure.
No Safety Release: These bindings were notorious for not releasing during falls, often trapping the leg and causing severe twisting, leading to potential "ankle-breaking" injuries or, at minimum, severe bruising from the tension.

By the end of the 1950s, safety bindings that allowed for sideways release began to emerge to address these safety issues.

Was there boots left at the labaz? I think they were said to belong to igor and had frozen socks in the boots?

The full description in the autopsy files says.

In the right and left area of the knee joints there are dark red scratches sized 1 х 0.5 cm and 0.5 by 0.5 cm of parchment density without hemorrhage into the surrounding tissue. There are abrasions of brown-red

color in the area of the left ankle joint on the anterior lateral and on the posterior surfaces of both ankles hollowed over the surface of the skin and also on the skin level, sized 1 х 0.5 cm and up to 3 х 2.5 cm with hemorrhaging into the underlying soft tissues.

In the area of the scratches there is one laceration. In the lower third of the right leg there is graze wound 4 х 2 cm in size,

I was very surprised by this fact considering that Igor Dyatlov was an experienced hiker.

Igor Dyatlov was found the same day (February 27, 1959) 300 m from the cedar, lying on his back, with his head towards the tent. Only his hands clenched into fists, crossed over his chest, were visible on the snow. The unbuttoned jacket is unusual for someone who is freezing to death.

Some would cite paradoxical umdressing.  Cynical folks might think his friends couldnt get it off of him because his arms were too tight.
That said, this thread is more about the Southern part of his anatomy, not Norrthern.

You say;
[ What I do not like is that the Evening Ortoten, nor diaries supports the idea. Then again, did any of the diaries record any injuries of anyone at any time? Yes, Y Yuden.

But where does it say so in the diaries?

28.2.58 (note: she got wrong the month and the year)

Uncle Slava is leaving today on his horse, and Yura Yudin is leaving too.

His hurts were acting up and the group knew it. So, he left. In Yudin's case, it is an wxample of the tolerance for less than perfect and less than familiar people to participate in the hike.
