We found a large warehouse of used cans under the turf on an area of 10 square meters.
Are those search engine banks from 1959?
Or are these banks of soldiers who cleared the scene of the tragedy and collected the debris of the fallen rocket?
Any large group of people should leave significant traces of their stay at the scene of the tragedy. The searchers lived in tents and had a lot of canned food with them .. The alleged stagers, clearing the area, also had to live somewhere and eat something ..
We have a new task to determine the warehouse of used cans. Whose is he? It's not clear yet..
...
Under the turf, between the banks, they found an ax with a rubberized handle ..

...
An ax, a hammer and a nail puller in one bottle.
Here are some videos about similar axes:
Топор, молоток и гвоздодёр в одном флаконе.
Вот немного видео о подобных топорах:

...
Our hatchet has a damaged handle just in the place where information about its price could have been.
Now we do not know what year this ax was made. If before 1961, then the price on the ax handle should not have been. If the release of the ax after the monetary reform of 1961, then the price should stand. It would cost from 2 to 6 rubles. Most likely 2.5 rubles.
...
The progenitor of the first sample of the hatchet "Tourist" was a sample of the hatchet from the American company "Estwing" USA.

This model is still produced and has a type-setting leather handle. Initially, there was a rubber, wooden and type-setting leather option.

The model that served as the basis for copying has been produced since the 40s.

The three main plants that produced all-metal axes according to one GOST are "RMZ" (Rybinsk Motor-Building Plant", "UMZ" (Ufa Motor-Building Plant - a branch of "RMZ" which was evacuated from Rybinsk to Ufa during the Great Patriotic War) and "KhSZ" ( Kharkiv Machine Tool Plant). Initially, they made hatchets almost similar in appearance. They were made according to one GOST (TU) and external differences were almost minimal. Particularly similar and looked like twins, hatchets from "RMZ" (a fish over a ball) and "UMZ" ( sign M in a rhombus ) They had rubber handles The hatchet from " KhSZ " was also very similar , but did not have a tide ( thickening ) at the entrance to the handle , the handle was made of plastic and despite all the similarity in shape , had a small and insignificant difference. The cost of axes was 2 rubles 50 kopecks, which was displayed on the handle of the axes. There were also options with the application of the year of manufacture (on the hatchets "RMZ" and "UMZ") and on all hatchets, except for "Export" had factory badges manufacturer,
"Export" axes were produced in Rybinsk at "RMZ" and sold abroad by the Foreign Trade Association "Novoexport" and marked with the badge "NE", the signature "Novoexport" Moscow and the inscription "Made in USSR".
After the axes were awarded the Quality mark, they began to cast it on the handles of the axes.
Also, the plant "RMZ" produced a version of the Fire hatchet and differed from the Tourist version only in the presence of a gaff, instead of a butt, and the absence of a nail puller.
The handles of the Fire variant and the Tourist variant were the same (rubber) and had a molded price tag of 2 rubles. 50 kop.
Unlike the Touring variant, the Fireman was never sold. He was in service with the fire departments of various departments.
The fire hatchet was produced in Oxidized (Blackened / Blued) and Chrome-plated versions.
The fire version of the hatchet was produced in small batches and was not common.
And now it is a MEGA RARE (Single) copy!
There are practically no such samples even in fire museums.
All-metal tourist and fire axes had two zones hardened - the front part at the blade and the back part at the butt / gaff. The rest of the parts were practically not hardened.
Very often, the Tourist version of the hatchet cracked and even broke in the place where it drank under the nail puller.
This was due to the difference in the hardness of the metal .... As a rule, the hardening line began at the blade and ended close to the nail puller.
Contrary to the erroneous prevailing opinion, the hatchets were cast, not forged.
Mostly hatchets were oxidized (Blackened / Burnished) - "RMZ", "UMZ", "KhSZ" and Phosphated - "UMZ", "KhSZ", but very rarely Chromed versions were produced - "RMZ" (Fire and rarely Tourist), " KhSZ / KhSPO " ( especially in a shortened version complete with a knife ) .
Estwing " USA.

...
Found hatchet manufactured by UMZ "(Ufa Motor-Building Plant - a branch of" RMZ "which was evacuated from Rybinsk to Ufa during the Great Patriotic War)

...
Under the ax was this jar

...
We continued to dig banks. We accumulated a lot. We chose a few with readable numbers and letters ..

...
Found batteries

...
For what purposes could search engines use such batteries? It's not clear yet..
And if this iron warehouse is not search engines, but the military, who cleared the area after the missile fell?
For what purpose could the military use such batteries? As an option - for portable radiometers:
Для каких целей могли применять подобные батареи поисковики? Пока не ясно..
А если этот склад железа не поисковиков, а военных, которые зачищали местность после падения ракеты?
Для какой цели могли применять подобные батареи военные? Как вариант  - для портативных радиометров:

...
This statement is not unambiguous.. But, it is worth considering.. So far we have not been able to find out whose iron was found in the forest, 200 meters from Kuntsevich's camp. Logically, next to the iron warehouse there should be a camp of searchers. (looking ahead, I’ll say that the warehouse of used cans of the spring camp of searchers on the Lozva tributary is located 10 meters from the site of the searchers’ tent). We could not find the winter camp of searchers near the garbage storage site. Shura Alekseenkov was intensively engaged in this. There is no result yet.

I want to ask about a new monument
erected 2 years ago.
Is it still present or absent?

It seems to be more durable than I expected.

Can you tell for definite if the metal was buried intentionally or that if it was left on the ground and then nature covered it all?.

I think the metal was not buried in the ground. On top was a layer of turf. Needles, leaves, roots, etc. Most likely, in winter it is difficult to bury these banks in the ground. The earth is frozen. Could only bury with snow

Are the pictures of the ceder and could we have an English translation of what is said on the carving?

Would it also be possible to put the location of the new find, axe and tins on a map showing its location to the ceder , tent and searcher's campsite?  grin1

No one knows the exact coordinates of the winter camp of the searchers.

Parking lot named after Yu.K. Kuntsevich, founder and head of the Dyatlov Group Memorial Fund
In this place, annually since 2008, the base camp of a research expedition dedicated to unraveling the death of tourists at the foot of Mount Kholat-Chakhl in 1959 has been located.

I've had a look at the axe, seems such device's are used in shingles in roofing and/or camping hatchets. Just an added benefit, hammer head at the rear for nails or tent pegs, grove to help remove nails and the axe head to chop wood. Saves having to carry multiple tools. Any group could have carried it I suppose.

at the loggers could have had such an axe. The attachment for pulling out nails is useful when disassembling old wooden buildings. At that time and in those places, loggers (workers of the 41st block, where tourists stayed) or prisoners of the Ivdellag could work.

Previously, in the USSR there was no choice of tourist hatchets. 6-7 factories produced just such axes for tourists. This is German technology from the 20s of the last century. The axes were quite a bit different, but almost everyone had nail pullers.
Tourists do not need a nail puller. And do not listen to sofa dreamers. There have never been any sheds in the area of the Dyatlov Pass. Lumberjacks never cut wood in this place, as there were no roads for its removal. Ivdellag was hundreds of kilometers away. Ushma did not yet have a prison colony in 1959. In the area of the Dyatlov Pass, the Mansi grazed deer and a deer trail led there.

1. I'm not  talking about the fact that they were engaged in logging on the pass. I'm talking about loggers from 41 blocks. The axe could have belonged to them.

2. We need to find out if any of the loggers of the 41st quarter had the initials S.V.A.? Suddenly this is the name of the killer?
3. You need to have a diagram (indicating cedar, tent, MCH, lab) of the place of the objects found. An axe with initials is a unique find. It was with this axe that (the blunt side)  Slobodin and Thibault could receive blows.

Anyone from any group could have used that axe. From the link of the video of the axes , commentators in the comments mention it can be used for lifting pots off the fire . If you have to use a nail when camping , for example , puttin a nail into a tree or making a tripod, you have means to remove it . There's nothing specific about the v. We had one for chopping logs. They are still sold today.

Maybe some possible suspects.

This group seemed to have found the searcher's camp, perhaps the cut trees from the landing site also. This group has axes and talk of canned food, breaking up rocks to make morter for the plaque. The also mention cans, skis, probs etc amongst other junk, they mention other fires being seen and the possibility of geologists or topographers being there at the same time. There seems to have been a lot of innocent activity.

Here is a report on the Yakimenko expedition in 1963, when they installed a memorial plaque on the remnant

A small number of people in Yakimenko's group could not eat several boxes of canned food.
Tourists use one can of stew for every 6 people for one cooking.
It was a very large group of people who lived there for several days. Perhaps this warehouse of cans was left over from the searchers of 1959. It's just not clear why we can't find a winter camp site for the searchers next to this can store. Very dissimilar topography and vegetation.

first, indicate the location of the axe on the diagram

I agree but I do not mean Yakimenkos group as the suspects of the litter , but there seems to be other groups in the area during their hike. If this is 4 years after the DPI , then it suggests that geologists, topographers, archeologists along with Mansi were doing their activities and could have been for those four years. It just seems less isolated than I first believed. It certainly gives credibility to the possibility to some other party being their doing work during the DPI .

And in the evening on that mountain where Olga and I did not go, the guys saw a fire. Who lit it? What kind of people are there? What did Olga and I lose by not being there? Probably topographers there.

Jora screams. He found the parking lot of a group of searchers Askinadze. There are skis, belts, cans, probes lying around.

There is a tour nearby. On the other hand, the topographers set up two strong points. There were no travel notes. This means that we overtook the three Muscovites we met in Vizhay. And the most interesting was around us. The Ural Range is clearly visible on the sides, in front - flat-bottomed Europe, and behind - marshy taiga Siberia. It turns out that Coyp is very close. It sticks out like a cone or a pyramid. To his left, Pechora gleams like a wide ribbon. On the right is Man-Pupu-Ner, and blockheads lined up on it. From here they seem especially "grand".
Food crates were found near the tour. It can be seen that they were thrown by a helicopter and a very long time ago. The girls undertook to dry this pasta, potatoes, sugar, peas. Under the remnants we dined with condensed milk with pancakes. Deer skins were waiting for us in a tent and a soup of four partridges and one oystercatcher

Hooray! Empty! And there are people on the beach. Geologists This is their smoke we saw yesterday from the summit

Geologists on the map show where the cave is located. It is 24 km away. It is 40 km to Ust-Shizhim, where there is a cordon. 4 families live on the cordon. They have boats with motors. We also get advice: to raft after the confluence of the Elma - it is deeper there.

We thank the geologists and settle down to have lunch at the former site of topographers. While the milk soup is being cooked, Valka is also talking to geologists and learns that there is little dry forest along the Pechora, and that it is generally easier to walk 120 km along the geologists' trail (they had 8 horses on the trail). Of course, they made all sorts of rosy plans. In order to familiarize ourselves with the exit to the Pechora, we ask the supply manager for condensed milk (a can for two!). Tasty!

There also seems to be archeologists.

Here is a report on the Yakimenko expedition in 1963, when they installed a memorial plaque on the remnant
http://samlib.ru/a/aleksej_parunin/dnewniknashejraznostoronnejzhiznijakimenkowidr1963g.shtml

Undoubtedly, tourist groups went and go now. In the last 40 years there have been especially many of them. Along the hiking trail there are many old bivouacs, many burnt and unburnt tin cans that last for many years, unlike any other garbage. And everywhere there are old plastic bottles.
But, it is this warehouse of iron cans that stands apart. It is far from the path. It's about 150 meters. There are no treadmill paths leading to it from the main path. The number of cans is impressive. All banks are under a layer of turf. There are very large cans of 1-2-3 liters, which are not used by tourists. Such banks are delivered by helicopter. There are glass jars. And no plastic bottles.
The warehouse of cans is located at a distance of 200 meters, to the west of the Kuntsevich site.
In July 2024, I will try to bring a couple of bayonet shovels there and dig up all the artifacts for study and the Theodora Museum. We will also dig in the spring camp of search engines on Lozbva. It was found this year and the exact location was determined.
Your text from Yakimenko's diaries refers to places remote from the Dyatlov Pass. We are talking about the Shezhimsky cordon and the surrounding area. This is the western part of the main Ural ridge. There was active human activity. There was already the Pechoro-Ilychsky Reserve, huntsmen, scientists worked ..
There is unverified information that, under the cover of this reserve, there was and still exists a missile test site for KB them. Academician V.P. Makeev, who was based in Miass. Follow my postings. Soon I will show on the video of UFO witnesses over the Pechoro-Ilychsky Reserve, which they recorded from near Otorten on August 1, 2023 in the evening. In the same direction, and on February 2, 2023, the Korolev-Fedotov research team saw an evening glow
If a mountain comes towards you, and you are not Mohammed, then it is a rockfall.

In any case, it is necessary to investigate all the initials of all possible owners of the axe: loggers from 41 sites, names, teams of vohrovets Chernyshov, search engines from the UPI and the military to find matches of the initials of S.V.A. (or S.V.D.?) In Yakimenko's group was Suvorova Valentina, (patronymic is not known), although I do not think that the axe belonged to the girl. Most likely to some man, thrifty and often using this axe...
