Ziljoe, I am struck by the extreme difference is the snowy ground and the bare ground in the upper photo. It is hard to ascertain the stream bed from this picture, but I suppose it is exposed in the lower excavation. The branches in the den are obviously offset from the stream, but by how much, I wonder.

The snow free slope has quite an angle. I wonder if this worked as a wind break or a wind tunnel at the time.

I am assuming that the four bodies are going to lie between the two excavations, but perhaps not.

The photos suggest that not everything about this case is revealed.

Also, in the second photo of the den, I was surprised at the thickness of the cut branch in the photo. I was also impressed with how many snags were in that litter of cutttings. Small wonder the Ravine 4 padded the branches with salvaged garments.

The new photos and the photo on the right above make the - classic - snowbridge theory less likely for having caused the broken ribcages.

On the garment/clothing: in theory that I have drafted, Yuri Kri and Yuri Dor have sacrificed their upperclothing for insulating the seat for badly wounded group members - Lyudmila, Semyon and Thibo - and for Alexander who had guarded/nursed the wounded while sitting in the den together.

Yuri Kri and Yudi Dor had tried to keep themselves warm while sitting in their underwear next to the fire near the cedar.
Via using the cedar as 'watchtower' during fixed intervals, both had tried to maintain - one way - communication from the tent via the flashlight to note if the situation of Zinaida or Rustem staying wounded in the tent had worsened.

With this scenario: the undressing of both Yuris, the flashlight on top of the tent, the fire next to the cedar, and the window in the cedar with a view to the tentsite, make sense as may be expected from 'rational solution oriented' University of Technology students.

As understand it. The ravin4 were retrieved from that ditch. The green behind is the den ditch. They were reported to be 6 meters apart.


I'm still musing the various details.

Downstream the stream, as stated in the protocol.

Green is the den with the branches and clothes. The dark hole is where the ravine 4 were found . They were reported to be 6 meters apart.
