Suri, without evidence and claiming cover ups by other people is the definition of conspiracy theory.
You say the case was covered up , Ivanov says various things that totally contradict . He says it wasn't murder and an ordinary case to the journalist behind closed doors, but within his newspaper article he ventures in to the territory of fire balls and piloted lights with ray beams. Why would he inform in a private letter to the editorial team what he thought happened, that no one else was to see, then write the article with sensation for a news paper that wants stories.
The Soviet media was going through a trend and one of the main books at the time was this.
Marina Lavrentievna Popovich was a Soviet Air Force test pilot who became publicly associated with UFO reports during the glasnost period. In 1991 she published a book titled “UFO Glasnost” (Russian: «УФО Гласность»). The book is not an investigation of any specific case; it is a collection of aviation and space‑flight anecdotes presented in memoir format.
Chronological Structure of the Book
1. Early Soviet Pilot Reports (1950s–1960s)
Popovich begins with accounts from military pilots describing encounters with glowing spheres, lights pacing aircraft, and objects performing abrupt manoeuvres.
2. Her Own Flight Experiences (1960s–1970s)
She includes personal anecdotes from her test‑pilot career involving unusual lights seen during high‑altitude flights. These are not documented incidents, but recollections.
3. Radar Anomalies (1970s–1980s)
The book presents stories from radar operators reporting returns that moved erratically, vanished suddenly, or appeared to travel at speeds beyond known aircraft capabilities.
4. Cosmonaut Anecdotes (1970s–1980s)
Popovich repeats second‑hand accounts attributed to cosmonauts, including Pavel Popovich, describing “fireballs” and unidentified objects observed from orbit.
5. Glasnost Context (late 1980s)
She argues that Soviet pilots were discouraged from reporting anomalies and that glasnost allowed these stories to be published without fear of professional consequences.
6. Conclusion
Popovich does not claim extraterrestrial involvement. Her stated position is that the phenomena described by pilots and cosmonauts warrant scientific study and should not be dismissed.
Examples of Claims Made in the Book
- Glowing spheres pacing aircraft during military flights.
- Objects accelerating or stopping abruptly in ways inconsistent with known aerodynamics.
- Radar tracks that appear and disappear without explanation.
- Cosmonauts observing bright lights or objects from orbit.
- Assertions that Soviet secrecy suppressed pilot reporting for decades.
Popovich’s book does not discuss the Dyatlov Pass incident. Its relevance is indirect: her glasnost‑era framing of “unexplained aerial phenomena” influenced the broader cultural environment in which older Soviet cases, including Dyatlov, were reinterpreted during the early 1990s. Her material contributed to the general atmosphere of speculation surrounding Cold War mysteries, but she had no direct connection to the Dyatlov investigation.
There's other articles, the CIA followed them. This is about soviet soldiers being attacked by aliens. You have got to laugh.

AS REPORTED BY THE AUTHORITATIVE MAGAZINE CANADIAN WEEKLY WORLD NEWS, *U.S. INTELLIGENCE OBTAINED A 250-PAGE FILE ON THE ATTACK BY A UFO ON A MILITARY UNIT IN SIBERIA. THE FILE CONTAINS NOT ONLY- MANY DOCUMENTARY PHOTOGRAPHS AND DRAWINGS, BUT ALSO TESTIMONIES BY ACTUAL PARTICIPANTS IN THE EVENTS. ONE OF THE CIA REPRESENTATIVES REFERRED TO THIS CASE AS "A HORRIFIC *PICTURE OF REVENGE ON THE PART OF EXTRATERRESTRIAL CREATURES, A PICTURE THAT MAKES ONE'S BLOOD 'FREEZE." ACCORDING TO THE KGB MATERIALS, A QUITE LOW-FLYING SPACESHIP IN THE SHAPE OF A SAUCER APPEARED ABOVE A MILITARY UNIT THAT WAS CONDUCTING ROUTINE TRAINING MANEUVERS. FOR UNKNOWN REASONS, SOMEBODY UNEXPECTEDLY LAUNCHED A SURFACE-TO-AIR MISSILE AND HIT THE *UFO. IT FELL TO EARTH NOT FAR AWAY, AND FIVE SHORT HUMANOIDS WITH "LARGE HEADS AND LARGE BLACK EYES" EMERGED FROM IT. IT IS STATED IN THE TESTIMONIES BY THE TWO SOLDIERS WHO REMAINED ALIVE THAT, AFTER FREEING THEMSELVES FROM THE-DEBRIS, THE ALIENS CAME CLOSE TOGETHER AND THEN "MERGED'INTO A SINGLE OBJECT THAT ACQUIRED A SPHERICAL SHAPE." THAT OBJECT BEGAN TO BUZZ,AND HISS SHARPLY, AND THEN BECAME BRILLIANT WHITE. IN A FEW SECONDS, THE SPHERES GREW MUCH BIGGER AND EXPLODED BY FLARING UP WITH AN EXTREMELY BRIGHT LIGHT. AT THAT VERY INSTANT, 23 SOLDIERS WHO HAD WATCHED THE PHENOMENON TURNED INTO... STONE POLES. ONLY TWO SOLDIERS WHO STOOD IN THE SHADE AND WERE LESS EXPOSED TO THE LUMINOUS EXPLOSION SURVIVED. * THE KGB REPORT GOES ON TO SAY THAT THE REMAINS OF THE UFO AND THE "PETRIFIED SOLDIERS" WERE TRANSFERRED TO A SECRET SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH INSTITUTION NEAR MOSCOW. SPECIALISTS ASSUME THAT A SOURCE OF ENERGY THAT IS STILL UNKNOWN TO EARTHLINGS INSTANTLY CHANGED THE STRUCTURE OF THE SOLDIERS' LIVING ORGANISMS, HAVING TRANSFORMED IT INTO A SUBSTANCE WHOSE MOLECULAR COMPOSITION IS NO DIFFERENT FROM THAT OF LIMESTONE. A CIA REPRESENTATIVE STATED: "IF THE KGB FILE CORRESPONDS TO REALITY, THIS IS AN EXTREMELY MENACING CASE. THE ALIENS POSSESS SUCH WEAPONS AND TECHNOLOGY THAT GO BEYOND ALL OUR ASSUMPTIONS. THEY CAN STAND. UP FOR THEMSELVES IF ATTACKED. (ENDALL) j23003.03 27 MAR 30/1529Z MAR BT #0317 NNNN NNNN -rsEODwrs Approved for Retea5e_ Dam a MAY MD
